THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID SERVICES (CMS) has noted that it plans to audit 1 in every 20 meaningful use participants. A meaningful use audit may include a review of any of the documentation needed to support the information. Especially, that entered in the attestation. The level of the audit review may depend on a number of factors. Most audit failures occur due to inadequate documentation regardless of whether the organization was actually compliant.
